Cellure skincare

Cellure is the new luxury skincare brand formulated from the founders’ own urgent and personal experiences. Netherlands based entrepreneur, Sara Douglas, whilst living in the UK, developed a severe undereye reaction to a skin booster treatment, in late 2024, resulting in the ‘Tyndall effect.’  Emotionally depleted from the upheaval and exacerbated that no medical treatment or liquid dissolve could cure it, Sara decided to curate her own skincare products with an expert US based formulator. I caught up with her to find out more about the Cellure skincare story.

‘Instinctively I just knew something was wrong when I felt this burning sensation from the small prick of the skin booster micro injection under the vascular layer of my eye,’ Sara recalls, ‘I think it’s becoming popular now to create these cocktails in skin boosters and you never know the reactions they will cause.’

From the end of 2024, Sara trialled everything from expert Doctor visits to dissolve the whole area, Red Light Therapy masks, Facial lymphatic massage, Vitamin C skincare and nothing would shift the deeply embedded pigmentation; although she found the most improvement in sheet masks by Medicube, a PDRN (salmon derived) focused brand. Intrigued, Sara contacted a leading US formulator (she had used for her other business, Vitaclean) and they began researching ingredients, in particular copper peptides. The result: the Peptide Hydro Lift Serum, advanced lifting and repair powered by PDRN and EGF (growth factors). A formulation made from a base serum (comprising snow mushroom extract, hyaluronic acid, salmon DNA, PDRN, copper peptide, acetyl hexapeptide-8) met with an advanced technology, Dimethyl Isosorbide (DMI), a pharmaceutical grade delivery agent. ‘The base serum forms a film where the actives actually penetrate into the skin, rather than end up on your pillow, and that stabilised film paired with the carrier is highly effective to reach deep into the skin epidermis.’

Confounded by the transformative effects of the Peptide Hydro Lift Serum, not only to finally relieve the ‘Tyndall effect’ of her eye, but also in regenerating tissue around the area ‘like a light bulb switch on the face;’ Sara decided she wanted to create further products that alleviated crevices around the eyes and could be used around the cheeks, nasolabial folds, lips too, addressing concerns such as volume loss as well as melasma, pigmentation and inflammation. ‘Putting all the actives in one was too intense, they stabilise better on their own,’ so I then created with the same formulator, the Volufiline Serum and Tranexamic Acid Peptide Serum. ‘They all have the same base serum just different actives added.’ So Volufiline Serum is a sculpting product, focused on natural plumping, fullness and contour, and Tranexamic Acid Peptide Serum, supports skin barrier strength and skin texture. ‘I have melasma and have always used the best SPF’s but found in the sun I would get skin inflammation. By regularly using the Tranexamic Acid Peptide Serum, my melasma has radically faded.’

As a sensitive skin sufferer who is prone to psoriasis during stressful periods, including around the eye area, I have always found that luxury skincare brands address the eye area as a secondary concern; focusing on dark circles but not really getting to the deeper skin layers of this thin skin area which doesn’t naturally produce moisture. So, I am delighted to have found Cellure – a one stop shop brand for the thinnest skin area of the body made from the highest quality ingredients, advanced technology and made in the US but at an accessible price point.

Now Sara has found her base formula that has long term, skin tissue regenerating effects, she will continue to expand the Cellure product range: ‘I am currently working on a body gel that will work in the same way as the Peptide Hydro Lift Serum to tighten and sculpt – I find the rise of Ozempic dangerous.’

As she splits her attention between US and UK markets, I look forward to following the Cellure story.
