I caught up with Biocore Labs, a new skincare brand that merges advanced scientific evidence with the knowledge of clinical pharmacists working on formulations that are both effective and safe. Usman Fiaz, founder, talks me through the brand USP and the first hero product, the 3-in-1 Snail Mucin Super Serum.
‘I identified a growing consumer demand for research backed skincare that offers tangible results. By leveraging the knowledge of clinical pharmacists, Biocore Labs fills this gap, offering formulations that are scientifically validated without harsh ingredients,’ explains brand founder, Fiaz.
Fiaz is himself a practicing clinical pharmacist (PharmD., MRpharmS., MPH, PGDip, IPresc.) with almost a decade of experience working with NHS England, and is utilising unique biotechnology to develop these science backed, transparent and safe formulations. So what are some of his discoveries? The Power of Synergistic Ingredients, Innovative delivery systems, and Safety and Efficacy are our core insights, explains Fiaz. ‘Through rigorous research, we have identified combinations of active ingredients that work synergistically to enhance efficacy. For instance, pairing Snail Mucin with Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 can amplify anti-ageing and rejuvenating effects of both ingredients. Adding in hyraluronic acid, too, boosts the hydrating effect of the formulation.’ Another key Biolab development is optimising the ‘delivery of the active ingredients into the skin, by ensuring precise amounts of each ingredient are formulated in specific ratios.’ Fiaz continues, ‘we also have found that not all natural ingredients touted on the market are safe or effective so we ensure all our ingredients are dermatologically tested and scientifically validated.’
So why did they begin with ingredient snail mucin for their first product, 3-in-1 Snail Mucin Super serum?
Biocore Labs goes beyond just thinking of skin as a protective barrier but as an intricate organ deeply connected to overall body health and systemic functions. ‘We have delved into how stress hormones like cortisol impact skin health; elevated cortisol levels can disrupt the skin’s barrier function leading to issues like dryness, inflammation and accelerated ageing.’
As someone who suffers from severe stress particularly induced by past childhood traumas, yet with super sensitive skin that can’t take an overload of products, I am drawn to the light texture of the serum, with healing properties one immediately notices on application.
Fiaz enthuses about my response and the reason for combining the 3 ingredients, ‘we developed the 3-in-1 Snail Mucin Super Serum to incorporate the repairing properties of that ingredient but have developed in the Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 for collagen/elastin promoting properties as well as the Hyraluronic acid for hydration and restoration of the skin’s natural resilience.’

The snail mucin is ethically sourced from a high-tech lab in South Korea, which is cruelty free and they remain transparent around the process.
‘Snail secretion is collected using an ethical and cruelty-free method where the snails are gently stimulated in a controlled, stress-free environment. The raw secretion undergoes a thorough filtration and purification process to remove any impurities while preserving its potent bioactive compounds, including glycoproteins, glycolic acid, hyaluronic acid, and elastin. We use a stabilization technique that protects its active components from degradation, ensuring the ingredient remains potent throughout the product’s shelf life,’ explains Fiaz.
So where will Biocore Labs take their expert science backed, clinical pharmacist formulated product range next?
‘We aim to build on our current success, bringing cutting-edge products and concepts to our customers,’ muses Fiaz. ‘We are going to introduce more innovative actives by exploring underutilized natural ingredients and biosynthetic compounds that deliver superior results with minimal environmental impact. We are also looking into expanding beyond topical care to supplements and ingestible actives that can promote skin health from within, leveraging the gut-skin connection.’
