The Perfumers Story x Kingsman Film- ‘In Conversation’ press launch
Back to Journal + Musings
I was delighted to be asked by my friend, Azzi Glasser, the creative director and inspired lady behind The Perfumer’s Story to host an ‘In conversation’ event with her for the press launch of her new perfume for the Kingsman: The Golden Circle film. Before The Perfumer’s Story launched, the idea of a perfume creative director or bespoke perfumer didn’t really exist, but Glasser has been on a one woman mission to use her ‘nose’ to transform the generic idea of branded perfumes into something individual with emotion based on character, style and tone.
The brainchild of Kingsman film director, Matthew Vaughn, whom wanted to explore sense of smell on screen with his widely loved, fun spy characters, the Kingsman perfume – worn both by the actors (Colin Firth, Taron Egerton, Matthew Strong et al) on set to help them into character and later available at and the No.1 selling fragrance on Mr Porter.
We talked all things character, film and notes of vetivert, smoked wood amongst others – to a lively crowd including Peaky Blinders star, Helen McCrory, actress Camilla Rutherford and illustrator Daisy De Villeneuve (pictured) And thank you to Vanity Fair, Country and Townhouse for the coverage and a video which went viral.
Quote: Matthew Vaughn: I relied heavily on Azzi to interpret the qualities and value of a Kingsman. It was important that when it was worn the scent would speak to those qualities and convey a refined confidence in the wearer, and just importantly, to those around him.
