Whether you are heading to your super-facialist for an express cleansing facial or intensive laser technology treatment, the likelihood is you will now finish off with an LED Mask. Red and blue LED masks – most likely you will only have experienced one or the other – are now so de facto amongst facial treatments, shopping platforms have made ‘at home’ versions, to be used from the comfort of your own sofa.

As much as most beauty insiders have noticed the efficacy of the coloured LED lights to reach deeper into the collagen of the skin, or provide healing benefits from inflammation and acne, this editor has always refrained from a quick LED mask purchase from my Amazon account. Were LED masks, fuelled by over 150 bulbs, really designed to be part of a quick ‘at home’ beauty routine?

Enter C’est Madeleine: a new wellness brand meets ecomm platform that has been founded by Mya Lane, a half French, half Moroccan mixed-race woman from a family of naturopaths. The Lumiere LED mask is the first product and centrepiece of the brand, whilst Lane will add in curated skincare products at the end of the year. C’est Madeleine Lumiere is an LED mask with a difference: 7 LED light modes made using 320 bulbs (most luxury brands use around 120). An idea ignited by the skin troubles Lane experienced largely from genes that reacted to the humidity of the city, including eczema, which re-emerged during her pregnancy, Lane turned to her sister’s naturopath wisdoms for help. Having found results in the blood pumping and healing efficacies of the LED lights, she went on a mission to try the experience at home: Lane found that most of the masks were poorly designed, often made from rigid plastic, very heavy, wire-based, or silicone versions whereby the LED sheets would break shortly after a purchase.

Frustrated, Lane’s now business partner, who had a background in design and manufacturing convinced her to make her own. C’est Madeleine was born with a vision to create a device that was comfortable, durable and with the availability of a whole spectrum of 7 lights, whereby each light is a wavelength: the red and near infrared light reach furthest into the skin, boost collagen production and blood circulation. Green is the calming colour which reduces inflammation, whilst blue sits on the top layer of the skin purifying and killing the surface bacteria. Yellow is also calming and treats skin pigmentation, boosting lymphatic circulation and decluttering veins. The Lumiere LED mask also offers colour combinations, so by utilising red and blue together you add up the benefits of the two, doubling the efficacy.

Lane’s business partner started the process of creating the Lumiere LED mask: he started work on the ergonomics focusing on using chemical free, vegan friendly materials, and most importantly creating eye protection (most LED masks don’t protect the fragile eye area) through using flexible silicone, around that area, that also protects from light exposure. It is also wireless so you can easily be on your laptop, throughout your LED light session, and importantly the mask sits around 4cm wide, so avoids direct content with your face that creates oily skin.

C’est Madeleine is a trustworthy product in a growingly opaque landscape, that combines leading technological advancements with the herbalist expertise passed down through generations of  family. Lane’s upbringing in Brittany, France – an area long synonymous with naturopath healing – instilled in her the importance of nature’s plant remedies and organic living. C’est Madeleine is also supported by a small team of leading herbalists and doctors, including one Morocco based herbalist, who only uses homegrown ingredients found no further away than his garden.

The Lumiere LED mask has been the first product to launch with a curated selection of products launching end of the year, including a multi-process skin balm, made up of 4 key natural ingredients revolved around healing dry skin, eczema and psoriasis symptoms, as well as a range of detoxifying and balancing supplements.

At its core, Cest Madeleine is not just a skincare brand but a journey of wellness and healing: it is a set of products aimed at helping to rebalance the natural regulators of your body fusing advanced technology with the power of nature. Win Win.
